Joining the Church

Joining a Church is an Important Decision
We recognize that choosing to join a church family is an important decision, and we encourage you to prayerfully consider your next steps. The pastors at Christ United Methodist want to get to know you better and how Christ Church may meet your spiritual needs. If you are interested in talking with a pastor about your options for membership or simply desire more information, please contact the church office at 318.686.2553 or click

How to Become a Member
The Worship Service
You may join any Sunday and at any service you choose. The Pastor will issue an invitation to join the church, usually directly before the singing of the last hymn (refer to the worship bulletin). You will join the ministers at the altar and respond to the vows of membership. At the end of the service, the congregation will welcome you into the church family.
Vows of Membership
You will be asked if you profess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. You will also be asked to uphold Christ United Methodist Church with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service.
You may join Privately
There are times when a person or family may desire to join privately at times other than worship. All you would need to do is let the pastor know of your desire.
Methods of Joining
Are you currently a member of another United Methodist Church?
If so, you will simply transfer your membership to Christ United Methodist Church. When we receive the name and address of this church, our church office staff will request a transfer to Christ Church.

You will be joining by profession of your faith in Christ.
